"Freemasonry is a system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols. The Cryptic degrees preserve the most ancient of those symbols — the word itself."
— Grand Council Royal and Select Masons of Michigan
The final degree...
The ten degrees of Ancient Craft Masonry are united by the allegorical history of King Solomon's Temple, tracing the labor, challenges, completion, and preservation of this great spiritual edifice. Together they make up THE CIRCLE OF PERFECTION. Each degree reveals deeper insights into duty, fidelity, and the pursuit of Masonic light or knowledge. The Super Excellent Master Degree stands as the final degree of Ancient Craft Masonry. The culmination of the American York Rite is found in the Cryptic Council of Royal & Select Masons.
The Cryptic Degrees
Three Degrees. One Complete Story
The Cryptic Council confers three degrees that complete the allegory surrounding King Solomon's Temple — preserving the secrets entrusted to the faithful Companions of the ancient craft.
Learn about the Circle of Perfection→The Royal Master degree teaches the Mason the importance of labor and preparation. It bridges the lessons of the Chapter and the vault, revealing what was sought and what was preserved.
Grand Council Endowment
Preserve the Mysteries for Future Generations
We are taught, in the Cryptic degrees, the great lengths our three Grand Masters took to preserve the mysteries of our craft for future generations. The Grand Council Endowment is your opportunity to emulate their example.
By contributing to the Endowment we can preserve Cryptic Masonry and fund further value for all Cryptic Masons throughout the state. Contributions can be made through your recorder or directly to the Grand Council.
Please consider participating in our Gyve program. Funds from our Gyve program will be used to fund technology, systems, and value-based programs for our constituent Councils — all the while growing and preserving our endowment.
